Armenians make up almost all of the country's population. The remainder include Kurds, Russians, and small numbers of Ukrainians, Assyrians, and other groups. More than 3 million Armenians live abroad, including about 1.5 million in the states of the former Soviet Union and about 1 million in the United States. Armenians speak two different dialects of their language: Eastern Armenian, spoken mainly in Armenia and the Caucasus, and Western Armenian, spoken primarily in the Armenian diaspora. |
