The two largest islands in Samoa, Upolu and Savaii, account for around 96% of the total land area with several smaller islands making up the remainder. The volcanic islands of Samoa are dominated by rugged mountain ranges surrounded by a fringe of coral reefs and lagoons. Samoa's flora ranges from tropical rainforests to scrublands, marshes and swamps. |
