There is great variation in homes throughout Thailand from the modern, high rise, apartment buildings and single storey brick and cement homes to traditional wooden stilt houses with a palm leaf roof. The traditional homes are made of raised wooden post construction, so that animals, creeping insects can't enter the houses. The open area beneath the houses also serves as a cool daytime workplace. There are many houses like this, dotted around the countryside. |
