Although the capital of Armenia, Yerevan, dates back almost 2800 years it has little architecture representing its past. Most of its old buildings were designed during early Soviet rule and built using the local volcanic pink stone, known as tuff. In urban areas families mostly live in either apartment buildings or in single-family houses. In rural areas around 92% of families live in private single-family houses. In general, many homes in Armenia are of poor standard. |
