Like everywhere in Europe and most of the world, soccer is extremely popular in Austria. But also skiing is a very popular sport in Austria and is famous throughout Austrian history. Austrian professional skiers are at the top of world rankings and Innsbruck was host for the Olympic Winter Games in both 1964 and 1976. The different skiing resorts in the Alps attract visitors from all over the world.
