Ethiopian food usually consists of vegetable or meat side dishes, served on injera, a large sourdough flatbread, which is 50 cm in diameter and made out of fermented teff flour. Ethiopians do not use cutlery for this dish, but instead use injera to scoop up side dishes.Traditionally Ethiopians do not eat food with, as most Ethiopians are either Muslims or Ethiopian Orthodox Christians, and are thus prohibited from eating pork. Most restaurants also serve spaghetti with tomato sauce, and in bigger cities you can find various restaurants serving foreign cuisine, mainly Italian. After dinner, Ethiopia is the place to go for a cup of excellent, strong coffee.
