The Indonesian government officially recognizes six religions. These religions are Islam, Protestantism, Roman Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim nation, with almost 86% of Indonesians declared Muslim. 11% of the population is Christian, 2% are Hindu, and 1% Buddhist. Most Indonesian Hindus are Balinese, and most Buddhists in modern-day Indonesia are ethnic Chinese. |
