The state religion of Jordan is Islam. The majority of the population (95%) are Muslim and the rest are Arab Christians. Freedom of worship, opinion and association are guaranteed by the constitution. Muslims are required to pray five times a day, and you are likely hear the call for prayer made by the muezzin most places.
