Guyana has an abundance of interesting species of animals. Mammals include jaguars, pumas, tapirs, giant otter, white-faced Saki monkey, Capuchin monkey, tayra and manatees. Birds include eagles, hawks, parrot, toucans and owls. Many interesting reptiles are native to Guyana, such as rattlesnakes, caimans, anacondas, Matamata turtles, and Emerald Tree boas. At the Kaieteur Falls giant bromeliads thrive, supporting a miniature ecosystem within their leaves in which the tiny golden frog lives. |
