The religion followed by the majority of Laos’ population is Theravada Buddhism. Buddhism is supplemented by Confucianism, animism, ancestor and spirit worship. Most hill tribes practice spirit worship or animism, but some have also adopted certain tenets of Buddhism and Confucianism. There is a very minor sprinkling of Christians in the country, mainly in urban areas. |
