Famous from the Spanish kitchen is tapas which can be something as simple as a piece of toasted bread, rubbed with garlic and dipped in olive oil, or a dish of olives. Slices of ham or salami, cheese, pieces of Spanish tortilla and marinated anchovies are popular, as well as several warm dishes. Another famous dish is is paella, the saffron infused rice dish with meat, seafood and vegetables. Spanish cuisine makes heavy use of potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, beans and mushrooms. Spanish cooking often includes meat, depending on farming and tradition in the region. Prawns and shrimps are popular, as well as anchovies and sardines. Gazpacho is yet another famous Spanish dish; it is a soup made with tomato, olive oil, garlic, cucumbers and croutons, served chilled. Wine is often consumed with the meals. If you love coffee, you will for sure enjoy the good, hot, strong kind they serve almost everywhere in Spain.
