Romania has a workforce of about 9.3 million people, or some 42 % of the
population. About 3 million Romanians work in industry and commerce, 2.8 million in services, and 2.4 million in agriculture. The unemployment rate is about 5.9 %. As of January 2006, the minimum wage in Romania is about US$124 per month.
