The Swedish workers enjoy benefits, by law or by union contract, that include five weeks of paid holiday (after the first year of employment), paid time off for illness or child-care, 16 months of paid parental leave, regulated working hours, overtime compensation and pension benefits. Vacations and holidays are covered by legislation. The legal minimum age for full-time employment is 16 years old. The regular workweek cannot exceed 40 hours, and overtime is limited to 48 hours over a four-week period and a total of 200 hours a year. Most Swedes are member of a union.
