The Rose Garden of Martyrs: The Rose Garden of Martyrs, or Golestan-e Shohada, lies in Esfahan. Golestan-e Shohada is a memorial for the thousands of people from Esfahan who lost their lives during the grueling 8 year Iran-Iraq war. Persepolis: Persepolis was an ancient ceremonial capital of the second Iranian dynasty, the Achaemenid Empire, situated some 70 km northeast of the modern city of Shiraz. To the ancient Persians, the city was known as Parsa, meaning the city of Persians. Naghsh-e Rostam: Not far from the famous city of Persepolis, lies Naghsh- e Rostam with its four tombs of ancient Persian kings. Although this is still open to debate and speculation, the tombs seem to be those of Darius I and II, Xerxes I and Artaxerxes.
