Paraguay - Food

In the Paraguayan diet, fruit, vegetables and meat are eaten along with manioc and corn. Soft drinks and fruit juices are popular. Maté is a national drink, taken either cold or hot. Mosto is a sugar-cane juice, with alcohol it is called caña. Some typical dishes are parrillada which is various cuts of meat cooked over coals as in Argentina, mazamorroa which is corn mush, sopa paraguaya which is corn bread with cheese and onion, mbaipy-so-ó, a corn pudding with chunks of meat, bori-bori, a chicken soup with cornmeal dumplings, and sooyo sopy, a soup with ground meat, served with rice or noodles. Mbaipy-he-é is a dessert of corn, milk and molasses
